Recently, poor farmers in our region have started growing poppies to earn money. Poppies produce opium, which is used to make illegal drugs. This has to stop!

Editor, El Tiempo.

In Colombia, especially in the central region of the country, the rives are being contaminated by the people who live in rural areas anb by the leather industry. This people wash treir clothes in the rivers and use soaps that contaminate them, also the industry of leather wash the anima skin and pumping residuos into the rivers.

One thing to stop these problems is by sewer system in this regions destinated for pumping this residuos and teaching the people to take care the rivers. Thanks.

Soil pollution is caused by the presence of chemicals or other alteration in the natural soil environment. This type of contamination typically arises from the rupture of underground storage tanks, application of pesticides, percolation of contaminated surface water to subsurface strata, oil and fuel dumping, leaching of wastes from landfills or direct discharge of industrial wastes to the soil.

We have to know about this problem!

Recently I have seen that to many displaced are living on the streets. They are people who due to the corruption lose their houses and now live on the streets with their families.

We have to do something, They can't still live there, the children and the old people get sick. They helth is affected by the pollution. This people have been affected by the economy, They don't have a job, They don't have money so They can't buy food and are diying for that reason.

One thing to do about it is to build more shelters an supply them, food.

All around our country, pollution had been changed our landscapes and, indeed, our lifestyle. Because our hunger of easy money we are suffering a catastrophe. These words might be as much a moral fable for actual Colombian people as the preamble to plea for help. Few years ago, when cyanide was downfall at Magdalena River, local officials decided to take care about gold mining that is the main activity employing cyanide compounds in order to improve gold exploitation. This water pollution causes mysterious diseases in animals and humans. Illness may appear or we don’t had been noticed until this happened.

Another conflictive matter is the wood fell, much people from deep forest think to have the chance to earn money- much more that they had ever made before- by illegal agriculture or cattle rising, more livestock production means more nutrients from animal waste and fertilizer seeping into rivers and lakes, causing algae blooms the result it´s called eutrophicaton, the process turns lakes green, may suffocate fish by depleting oxygen and can harm people who use polluted bodies of water, such as people in Cienaga, Magdalena, a source of fish and water for the population.

An over increasing peasants have left their traditions and take new money customs. More than one million of Colombian workers are now in regular contact wit life-threatening toxic dust and poisonous material. Millions more endure physically sapping and mentally dulling work in drug processing factories, and indeed, in legal industries making mineral extraction or bad agriculture techniques (i.e. flower culture) for more rich consumer nations. A false prosperity announced by government has come with risks. The trouble is everybody is trying to have a bigger life level than his neighbor without take care about the consequences at neither social nor environmental level.

What good is money if you can´t breathe the air? Industrial haze surrounds our biggest cities; the air quality in developed countries is the worst among the world´s largest producers of greenhouse gases. And their rivers are so polluted making difficult create adequate wastewater treatment and groundwater depletion have led to a worldwide water crisis. The soil itself don´t get out about the environmental problems, everyday becomes more fragile and sterile. One of the most important effects on air contamination it´s the acid rain, smells aren´t all that come out from the chimneys , the use of coal and fossil combustibles expose the rain water to acid particles among another dangerous compounds.

The only one choice for us it´s to finish the consumption, we need to save energy, to employ less natural sources and to recycle all we can. We, as human species, need understand we are only part of the nature and the cosmos, no thinking about ourselves like the kings and owners of the world, like the biblical tradition had thought us.

The illicit cultivation is not a simply matter. It´s so easy for us, in our home comfort, to suggest solutions. However in the deep country the peopleit´s at middle of another experiences. The natural life and silvester environment, must be protected, but the human population it´s, no doubt, much more important. The foreign problem of comsumption seem impossible to control. I think the very best pathway to ensure a real solution it´s to legalize the drug traffic, and control the public health. In the past, another drugs has been legalized, despite the grat gangsterism developed around it, it happened with alcohol traffic.

The "common" people may understand the consumption doesn´t necessary conduce to degeneration, various artist and poets had been "drugg shockeds " going their most important pieces, arist like: Ramboud, Poe, Hendrix, Freddy Mercury, etc.... (a long etc.)

Our problem... our solution...

Good Afternoon, I have seen different problems with relation to air pollution and listening pollution nowadays.

Probably, the press should be to put more attention to some acts, negative acts of people who prefer

to see for other place, there many people who don't help for losing money.

One way to struggle it is to show the problems to the public who don't know about this.

Another option to stop it is to organize campaigns for cooperating with the nature.

I just ask a bit help for our planet, it needs us.
